    Eli, no!

Illustrator, graphic designer, Katie Kirk has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. I love her minimalist illustration style. She has written, illustrated, and designed this adorable book called Eli, no!, all about the trouble her dog, Eli, gets into.

She explains how she was inspired to create this book:

The book was inspired by my nephew, Parker. Whenever we were together, I would say "Eli no!" — and every time I said it, he would say it too! He liked how fun it was to say and so did I. I had always wanted to write and illustrate a children's book, and I thought this idea was too fun not to do.

This is the perfect book for dog lovers and for children. You can buy it here.

And this is Katie's dog, Eli.

    Animal Abstracts—Eleanor Grosch

Came across Eleanor Grosch's posters while browsing through the Poster Cabaret site. Her illustration reduces her subjects to a wonderful geometric minimalist style. She got her start designing band posters. You can read more about Eleanor here and it so happens she will be a speaker at this year's How Design Conference.

    Katie Kirk—Sugar & Sweets

Illustrator, Katie Kirk, says this print was inspired by "Willy Wonka (the Gene Wilder version of course), Martha Stewart, Amy Atlas, Coppola's Marie Antoinette and the Food Network". The bouncy mod shapes and the overall feel of the piece is also reminiscent of the cartoon and the typography used in the opening credits of the "I Dream of Jeannie" TV show.

Read more about the print on Katie's website and find out how you can order a copy for yourself.

    Jim Denevan's Sand Art

Jim Denevan makes these incredible huge drawings in the sand using tools like a rake or a large tree branch. What it even more amazing is that he says he does these freehand. CBS Sunday Morning did a nice profile on him. Watch the video below, it's fascinating.
